Hebridean Peat Smoked Scallops
An incredible product unique to Hebridean Smokehouse
The King scallops fished for in the waters surrounding our island home are rightly considered to be some of the best in the world. The marine environment of the Outer Hebrides is pristine clean and sweep by the powerful North Atlantic currents that move from the south Atlantic to the Arctic north - the ideal nursery habitat for premium quality scallops.
All of the scallops used in the smokehouse are sourced from local family-owned boats that land their catch here on North Uist and the Isles of Harris and Lewis.
The natural succulence of this exceptional shellfish is captured by our careful smoking - their extraordinary sweetness is also accentuated and complemented by the uniquely aromatic flavour of peat smoke.
Hebridean Peat Smoked Scallops are extremely versatile and can be enjoyed in a variety of ways; as a canapé on a blini with crème fraîche, in a dressed salad with rocket and artichoke hearts or simply dressed with lemon a dash of olive oil on rye or toasted walnut bread.
The addition slices of smoked scallop to a wild mushroom risotto immediately prior to serving, will suffuse the dish with an amazing aromatic sweetness that complements the deep flavours of porcini and other mushrooms.
Our vacuum packs of premium peat smoked scallops carry a use-by date of 14 days from dispatch and should be stored in a refrigerator immediately upon arrival. This unique high quality product is suitable for home freezing unopened with no loss of quality, taste or texture for up to 6 months.
