Uist News, Friday 2nd December

A cloudy but dry start to the day here on Uist today, it is forecast to remain dry for the rest of the day with temperatures of up to 11 degrees. Crofters had a busy day here on North Uist yesterday, it was time to take their wool to the collection point before being transported to the mainland. Once in the mainland depot the wool is graded, marketed and sold on behalf of producers to the international wool textile industry for use in flooring, furnishing and apparel.

 

Royal Mail Strike dates and the limits on service from Hebridean Smokehouse.

The Communication Workers Union has formally notified Royal Mail they plan to call in their members who collect, sort and deliver parcels and letters to take national strike action on Wednesday 30th November and Thursday 1st December, Friday 9th december and Sunday 11th December 2022. This action will have an impact on the service level we are able to offer and will restrict days we are able to send out customer orders.
