Uist News, Tuesday 21st January A very dreich start to the day here on Uist this morning. It is forecast to remain the same for the rest of the day, but it should hopefully improve by this evening. Crofters were very happy with the prices they got for their cattle and sheep at the livestock sale in Lochboisdale last week. All classes of cattle and sheep sold to increased levels on the year to a large ringside of mainland buyers. In the cattle section, the best price went to British Blue Cross bullocks from Hougharry, North Uist selling for £1820. The top price in the sheep classes went to a ram from Hacklett on Benbecula which made £128.
