Uist News, Tuesday 27th January A very windy start to the day here on Uist this morning. It is forecast to remain the same for the rest of the day with easterly gusts of up to 67 mph expected around lunchtime. The M. V Hebrides is spending the day in Uig today sheltering from the strong easterly gales caused by Storm Chandra. Crofters were out at the first cattle and sheep sale of the year last week in Lochboisdale. All classes sold to increased levels for the year to a large ringside of mainland buyers. In the cattle classes, bullocks sold to £2240 for a British Blue Cross from North Uist. Texels from Benbecula made the top price in the sheep classes, making £108 each.
