Information About The Service We Offer At Christmas And New Year.

For information on what is available this Christmas and New Year please follow this link.

Hebridean Smokehouse posts orders to UK addresses using Royal Mail and we offer two service levels.

Royal Mail 1st Class - During the year this service, in over 95% of cases, will reach its destination next day but at Christmas that target is not always achieved. At this time please allow up to four days for delivery and remember this is not the service to choose if you need your delivery on a specific date. Please help us to help you by keeping this in mind.

Royal Mail Special Delivery - The only service for assured next day delivery. During the year this service in over 99% of cases will reach its destination next day. At Christmas Royal Mail prioritises this service above all others and their success rate is very good indeed but the delivery will not necessarily be with your normal first post - at such busy times the Post Office may deliver later in the day, even late afternoon. This is the only service to use if your parcel must arrive on a specific day and can only be exchanged for a signature.

Christmas Delivery Deadlines to UK addresses

from Hebridean Smokehouse

Royal Mail 1st Class - the last posting day for pre-Christmas delivery is Wednesday 18th December with orders accepted up to 10 am on the day.

Please remember Royal Mail states that next day delivery for 1st Class Mail is a target, not a guarantee, and compensation for the postage is only available using Special Delivery.

Royal Mail Special Delivery - the last posting day for pre-Christmas delivery is Thursday 19th December and Friday 20th December with orders accepted up to 10 am on the day.

Royal Mail Special Delivery is a guaranteed next-day service throughout the year but at the peak of Christmas and New Year the success rate falls.

Deliveries Between

Christmas and New Year

This year we are not able to offer a service despatching parcels between Christmas and New Year so please order for delivery before Christmas and store your smoked salmon in the refrigerator for New Year.

The first posting opportunity after New Year will be on Monday 6th January 2025

However, it should be noted that most products send out during the week before Christmas will have use-by dates that easily exceed the New Year holiday when stored correctly in a refrigerator, so please consider this option. Pates are not included in this as the use-by is limited to 10 days from despatch.

For information about posting to overseas addresses please call the Smokehouse on 01876 580 209, Monday to Saturday between 09:00 and 17:30 BST

Important Considerations

Who will be at home when the postie calls? - Unless you have a good sized, secure mailbox your parcel will need to be received by hand from the postman. Please be prepared to accept the parcel if you place an order and remember at peak times like Christmas your order may arrive from one to four days after we post it and we cannot guarantee a date or time using Royal Mail 1st Class.

If you are sending a gift let the recipient know
it is coming so they can arrange to accept the parcel. If the postman attempts a delivery and fails they willleave you a collection card detailing how you can collect the parcel from a depot - Hebridean Smokehouse cannot accept responsibility for this circumstance or the consequences of such a situation once a delivery attempt has been made.

Please be patient with deliveries - we try very hard to get your fish to you by, or on, the date requested but delivery times vary at Christmas and within areas so if you can please order early. Your parcel my be delivered with your regular mail or at another time of day depending on area and volume of mail being handled by Royal Mail.

On arrival please remove all outer packaging and store your products in your refrigerator and use before the date indicated.
